Well, what a dissappointing Winter League for all the fliers. Only 10 individuals registered for the league and only 6 getting in more than one event
With only one competition reaching the 10 rounds, two being abandoned midway because of weather and the other two not even being started due to the attrocious conditions on the chosen date I doubt if any the fliers are happy with this League. Unfortunately or fortunately it was the weather and no anyone to blame for the low comp count.
The results with one discard are shown above.
Congrats to all who took part and to the top three placings, R R, P G and D W watch out for newcomers this summer. G Y will not be resting on his laurels in 5th place, I S ( the younger one) may get out to play more often, his house decorating must be nearing completion. I S (the older one) always seems to be available anyway, as is A S. Who knows we may even see some of the fliers ( from other clubs) who always say they'll be at the events but never make it, come on guys live up to your promises. Now that the bridge tolls have gone we should see an influx of Forth Valley Soarers as this has always been seen as a problem for them. (tongue firmly in cheek)
I have to thank Peter for taking over the reins for WL 4 as my Xmas illness was still gripping me then and still has NOT fully cleared.
I know that I am not happy having had to miss out on WL4 due to ill health, but then having two cancellations as well, what a unfortunate fiasco this year's Winter League has been.
One good thing that came out of this WL was that more than one person wrote some form of report on the events. This gives a far wider view of the scene and is much appreciated by all the readers, being stuck in the middle with scoring and pushing a comp along can give a very narrow picture of the goings on, keep the reports and pictures coming this Summer and they will all be included barring any unnecessary or scurilous remarks, I will be vetting all the reports first. :-) Remember there will be a photo competition open to all participants this year so all pics taken at any WL or SL events will be eligible. Yes there will be a prize, as yet undecided but it will not be a new mouldie model, of that I am certain!
All we can do is hope that the Summer League which starts on 15th March I believe is a lot more successful.
With 10, yes 10 scheduled F3f events and 5 Foamies it looks like it will be a busy year.
If any of the major International events, Welsh Open, HOH Open, BMFA Nats etc. fall on the same dates we may well cancel the Fife Soarers event in lieu of the bigger one, as we have done in the past. Maybe even one or two from abroad, who knows. It might be good to go away as a club outing to some of the other flying sites, whatya think?
Keep your eyes peeled for updates on this. |
