With the prospect of a wintry sun, I sent out the email requesting everyone to be there early. What happened, I was there at 9.00, no one else turned up till 9.30 losing what would have been 30 mins of flyable time or another two rounds. Please guys, if I say be there early it is for a reason not just for the sake of it.
The minimalistic comp got underway in what appeared to be slightly misty conditions, with a wind speed of around 10 - 15 mph. It was damp and kinda cold, demonstrated admirably byt the amount of shivering Peter Gunning was doing, might be an idea to get some fleeces with our club logo on them or even our VR logo, whatya think?
With only 8 entries the rounds were not gonna take long but a fair bit of shuffling back and forth between pylons, flying and scoring was gonna be inevitable. The mist came down with a vengance during the 3rd and 4th rounds and put paid to the comp continuing, however all the fliers had flown 4 rounds with their primary models so a result is in. Not as satisfactory as we would have liked, but still a result.
FTD was Ron Russell with 56.89secs, sparkling huh? Only RR got below 60 secs, on all 4 rounds, conditions could have been better. Next time, next time.
Some pics from Ali S and myself show the conditions before the comp, 9.00 and during the misty times. |
