Our third foamie event of the year, lovely sunny day for November on East Lomond. The light wind from the WNW meant that flying would not include racing for the meagre 5 competitors who turned up. As we were all determined to do something a hastily arranged spot landing competition got under way. A 12 ft square was laid out on the slope side and the model had to be fully within to count, 3 attempts per pilot. This had been an easy task before the official flights, however all got through. The size was reduced to 8 ft square and this proved to be the beginning of the end for some fliers, myself included. Hmmmm.
3 pilots got through and a further reduction to 6 ft square finished the hilarity with models bouncing out of the landing area to record zero points. One more pilot out. Final round, again slightly reduced in size with the requirement that the model had to be fully inside the square. only one made it, with a nose in that was almost out the front of the box, only to bounce back and land central in the zone. Peter Gunning wins!
2nd task was limbo down the gully, which Martin proved was possible by a quick demo flight. The requirements were to be fully below the flag level with the model. 10 minutes to complete as many passes as possible. All up at once. Again what sounded a simple task proved more difficult than imagined, with the varying wind, extra models in the air and Transmitters being carried away from the pilot area when models were being retrieved.. As the fliers tried to complete the task, then decided enough was enough it came down to 2 fliers making fairly consistant passes ans Ron won with 14.
Thoughts of a 3rd task were thwarted by the total lack of consideration that the wind showed by moving further round and dropping to even less. Game over, but a comp of sorts was held and everyone enjoyed themselves, save for the downhill model retriever group ably led by Peter G who displayed his normal bad luck in foamies, breaking the Gulp carbon joiner in an out landing during the second task.
At the end of the days flying, Martin who had 2 second places came out on top, well done Martin consistency won the day.
