01/09/07    Looks like we will have to reschedule today's planned F3f for next Saturday 8th September.

It will only be the F3f unless you all want to fly foamies as well, please reply quickly on this one.

BTW there will be no competition entry charges next weekend if you decide to come and fly.

Unfortunately it had to be cancelled today on safety grounds.

Clear blue skies, wind straight on the slope sounds too perfect, it was.

Foamies were run first in winds around 40 mph superb flying forward of the slope but awfy tricky on the crest. It was more wind than some of the models could comfortably handle but there were plenty mutterings about new models lurking in building rooms, almost completed. Get them done and bring them along next time.

4 rounds of 3 up racing were completed with some close racing and some unexpectedly hard arrivals in terra awfy firma. The low cloud which was scudding across the face delayed starting for quite some time but the one or two false starts where the cloud appeared to be breaking caused a couple of unhealthy thumps, nothing major but putting paid to one keen entry early on. It almost put paid to my Gulp as well but when it was retrieved the only noticeable damage was to the covering, however in round 2 things were not what they should have been and a wayward bit of epoxy had become wedged under one servo output disc restricting the amount of throw I had on one flaperonevator or whatever you call them, the waggly bit at the back of the wing.

No one else really seemed on song today but the racing got under way guided this time by David Loomes. Unfortuately for him his model had been producing "Magic smoke" even before he had left the house so we had to give him something to do, thanks Dave.

After 4 rounds were completed we decided to tot up the scores and 2 fliers were equal oon 11 points, this prompted a flyoff for first place. Martin Gibbs with his Gulp DS took an early lead clawed back over the next few laps by Ron Russell with his Gulp SR, he then started to ease away and in the end won by a clear 2 laps, sorry Martin.

The final placings are included below, thanks everyone for turning up and making a day of it, next time bring your friends
