Well we got our 7th F3f League comp completed today, the summer league is now over!!!

The early start called looked a great idea until the mist rolled in as soon as we reached the top of the hill.

Still the course was set up and we were ready to go before it cleared, shades of the VR. Same winds, same slope, same weather but a fair bit colder. Top temperature was 11 degrees, dropping to 8 as the day wore on.

Light SSW winds on the Viking slope on East Lomond all day long, varying from 12 mph at the start to 24 mid way and dropping back to 18 later.

It sounds ideal but this slope does not produce World Record times, still we hoped for a good days flying. There was not a lot of thermal assistance for any of the fliers as the day was overcast, damp and a wee bit dismal. Fast times were not anticipated, we were not to be surprised by any.

However 8 rounds were flown before the cold set, and a halt was called.
FTD 47.37s  Ron Russell  In fact only 2 sub 50 second times were recorded all day, conditions were as expected.

Scores with one discard were as follows:

With the scores tabulated and added into the rest of the League results there has been some movement of positions. Much debate has been had as to whether there should be one or two discards. I have my own feelings and that is if a league is flown then the maximum number of rounds should count. I do not really like discarding extra rounds because people choose not to be there for whatever reason. Leagues is leagues, even in toy aeroplane competitions. I have shown the scores with one and two discards, YOU decide where YOU think YOU placed. :-)

On a better note, it has been nice to see that we are still able to attract new members into the F3f scene, with the absense of some of our regular fliers from last season, it is nice to have George Young come along and actually enjoy tackling the F3f style of flying, welcome on board George. Now who else can we get in the air.
