Event 4, Bishop Hill, West veering North West.
Wind speed 35mph (round 1 dropping to 15 mph by round 6).
Conditions then remained constant for the rest of the comp.
Well we finally got a fly on the Bishop. The weather looked as though it would be a wonderful day, filled with fast times. To start with it was, but the wind began to tail off and veer to the North West, it was obvious from the fleet of para gliders who followed the slope round to our right. However we persevered on what would have been the Viking Race slope and enjoyed ourselves. If you have never flown there you should be kicking yourselves, it is superb and oh the view. The sky was filled with other users, paragliders, hang-gliders and full size sit in toys.
I digress, Ron R started proceedings today with a 49 second run, poor but when you consider it had two cuts in it, yes TWO, one at either end, then the model must have been shifting. Unperturbed he then flew the days fastest time in round 2. It is a pity that the wind began to drop fairly early into the comp as I feel that the 39.79 time would have been bettered.
10 rounds were completed before we called it quits, the air was dropping further and the joint decision was that enough is enough. As we are still mastering the timing gear it took a little time to work out the final placings but the Viking conquered all, closely followed by a Furio that is almost trimmed now and then Peter Gunning with his Race M. Well done guys it was an excellent days competition, thanks for all your efforts.
What have we to look forward to now, well the F3F Summer League will be starting soon and we will be running 60" days with both 60" F3f and 60" foamie racing. If eith take your fancy then please come along and fly.
