This league was scheduled to have 5 events initially but with the number of comps that had to be redated the 5th event was dropped so that the winter and summer leagues did not overlap. I know it sounds unlikely but the dates were looking like heading that way.
With a consistent group of fliers this has been quite successful, if only the Yorkshire men would have reciprocated the amount of time and effort our guys have put in to fly in their comps we could have had some superb racing with them both at the Hole of Horcum and at our events on the Lomonds. Maybe next year.
Event 1, East Lomond, Wind fair, West/SouthWest, 12- 15 mph
At this event the low sun caused major problems for all pilots, the left hand turn racing line was right through the centre of the brightest part of the suns glow. Only 4 rounds were flown in this comp, it was deemed unsafe to continue as the sun became more and more in our faces.
In all our League events we allow double entries for anyone who is willing to carry their models up the hill. It does mean that you get twice the flying and a bit of time to try to trim out more than one racing machine. I always try to get the extra airtime and find it beneficial. The hardest part is trying to remember the differences between model performances and adjust your flying technique to each.
We almost always use the fly through method in our comps, allowing two flights for one landing. It works for us.
