Report from Thun, Switzerland. 8 pilots flew.
Mediocre thermal flying weather at about 14 C with blue skies and a light South-Westerly wind.
A downhill wind called FON in Switzerland producing inverse thermals up and on.
Long repetition frequency for occurence of thermal bubbles, which if found were narrow, turbulent and dissappeared very quickly.
During the day a wind change meant that the winches had to be moved for opposite tow launches.
Never the less, up and on.
There were some small patches of thermal lift appearing but finding them and stretching them to 6 minutes was not all that easy.
It is apparent that we still need to practise our landings if we do not want any extra exercise retreiving models.
Ron says, "It always astounds me when the reports come over from Switzerland, the scenery is terrific, the conditions always appear to be perfect and the flying sites are immaculate. When I compare it to what we fly out off, what we take home on the bottom of our models and our shoes, I definitely am tinged with envy. One of there times I will have to visit to see if it is real". |
