Report from South Africa, 15 Pilots Flew
Comments from Don Slatter
Flying commenced on 26 March as scheduled. However, we were unable to complete all the rounds for all the pilots due to problems with wind directions. Flying was not possible on the following Sunday due to another scheduled competition but we the rounds were completed on 9 April.
Flying took place at our usual venue called Summerveld. This is a racehorse and jockey's training academy and has an excellent area for flying.
There were a wide variety of aircraft being used including two recently acquired Graphites. These are exceptionally light for 3.2m aircraft, weighing about 1.8 kg and their owners seem to be very pleased with their performance.
